The international shipbuilding industry continues to see a surge in demand for lightweight, high-strength, and seawater-resistant plywood. Recently, marine-grade plywood based on the Okoume tree species has become the preferred material for yacht, workboat, and high-performance racing boat manufacturers due to its superior material properties and durability. Many shipbuilding companies are rigorously selecting their materials, and YOTOP, with 15 years of experience in plywood manufacturing, has meticulously refined its expertise in marine plywood, providing usable materials to numerous shipbuilding companies.

Okoume wood has a density of only 400–680 kg/m³, significantly lower than traditional marine hardwoods. Okoume plywood, manufactured through a cross-laminated structure, maintains its lightweight nature while providing excellent bi-directional bending stiffness and impact toughness. For vessels, the "Okoume plywood light weight high strength ratio" means that every 10% reduction in structural weight can increase range by approximately 5–7% or reduce fuel consumption by an equivalent proportion. This characteristic is particularly crucial in the design of racing boats and luxury yachts.
Mass-Produced Okoume Marine Plywood is available with third-party type approval certificates, including but not limited to CE and FSC. These certifications directly meet the classification requirements of major classification societies in Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia, significantly shortening the shipyard's material approval cycle.
Excellent processing performance: No voids in the core, uniform homogeneous wood. High-quality Okoume marine plywood requires a void-free core and inner veneers and surface layers made of the same wood species (full Okoume construction). The practical benefits of this process include: strong nail-holding power: screws are directly and securely fixed; easy surface forming: suitable for streamlined hull ribs and skin; knot-free surface: achieves a uniform gloss after painting or varnishing; controllable tool wear: efficient cutting with carbide tools, suitable for mass production shipyard operations. Due to its high price, full Okoume plywood is mainly used in high-end vessels.

Optional upgrades: Flame retardant and anti-corrosion treatment. For different ship types' fire compartments and high-risk areas for biological corrosion (such as ballast tanks and underwater hulls), the manufacturer offers: Flame retardant type: meeting national standard Class B or BS476 Class. 1/2 standard, self-extinguishing upon removal of flame; Corrosion resistant: additional copper azole or borate impregnation treatment extends the service life of the hull in warm waters. Both functional versions maintain the original WBP bonding integrity and BS1088 dimensional tolerances. Environmental protection and safety: E0/ENF grade, no formaldehyde or metal corrosion risk. Okoume marine plywood uses phenolic resin adhesive, with formaldehyde emission reaching E0 or ENF grade (<=0.025 mg/m³), and has passed halogen-free and low volatile organic compound verification. Furthermore, phenolic resin does not contain acidic substances and will not accelerate corrosion of aluminum alloy or copper components of the hull.
